Well summer is officially here and the farm is blooming. It has been a difficult winter on the farm but the sun has now returned, the plants are again starting to blossom and the wildlife has returned to the area. Only yesterday farmer John spotted three young deer’s playing in one our field down by the pond.
Lambing season has now come to an end. We have had a number of new additions to the farm, including Moe the sheep and her three lambs, who live in the front garden. We are now looking forward to our harvest which will begin in a few weeks.
On May 20th the Queen came to

With winter around the corner, there is a bit of a chill in the air now at The Grainary. We have certainly had a very busy summer though both in the tearooms and the hotel. It has been lovely seeing you all and the dogs have certainly had lots of people to play with!
Farmer John has been kept busy getting in the harvest, and the cooks have been making some delicious cakes and bread for St. Margaret's upcoming Harvest Festival.
Our pigs have gone to market now, but "Porky" the little one is still with us. He is enjoying getting all the attention and not having to fight for the food.
There has been a Honey Buzzard spotted in the area recently! Have you seen any rare or unusual wildlife on your trip to the farm?
You may have seen or even bought one of our postcards of the different scenes around the farm. If you have any good photographs from your trip then why not send it in; with your name and address, to grainary@btopenworld.com. It may end up being made into a postcard and the best one will win a free slice of one of our delicious cakes!

Welcome to the Grainary Hotel
Summer has definitely arrived at the Grainary and we have had some glorious weather over the past few weeks. Farmer John has been kept busy, shearing the sheep and getting the hay in. Yogi the highland cow is growing quickly and Kirsty is becoming very mischevious, often escaping from her field!
We are very pleased to annouce that Jess has had 6 lovely puppies. She is busy looking after them, but Blu, Kim and Rex are enjoying having visitors again and showing them around the farm and on the walks, not to mention having lots of people to play fetch with!
The Summer months have brought out lots of wildlife at the Grainary. Two Kingfishers have been seen down at the bottom lake and the Nightjars have been spotted once again up in the forestry.

It's 2009 and again we have a number of new arrivals to our farm. Our sheepdog, Jess, recently gave birth to three pups who have been named; Max, Clive and Fido. We hope that all three of them will grow up to be succesful sheepdogs.
The hotel and tea-rooms are now set and ready to go for our re-opening in March and we hope you pop in some time for a cup of tea and to say hello to our many farm animals.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Well the summer is almost over and it has been very eventful. The Hotel has been very busy and the fields have all been harvested. Our pup, Rex has now grown into a mature and well-rounded sheepdog. Although the weather hasn’t been the best we’ve still managed to have a very productive summer on the farm and in the hotel. So a big thank you goes out to anyone who has visited or stayed on the farm this year. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Welcome to the Grainary Hotel. Today is the start of May and the farm is now in full bloom. We have had many new additions to the farm over the last two months. Firstly we are currently towards the end of lambing season and so have a number of new baby lambs on the farm, as well as a few baby chicks and also another highland calf who we have decided to name "Cousin It" after the hairy character from "The Adams Family".
Our new pup, Rex, is 4 months old now and is developing into a wonderful sheep dog, although he is still very mischievous.
The plants in our garden centre are beginning to blossom and the tea rooms are now in full swing.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Welcome to 2008. The New Year has brought us two new additions to the farm Rex a male border collie pup, who hopefully one day will become a working sheep dog. He can sit when told, tears the newspaper to bits, and likes to go walkies with Craig and playing with the other dogs. Our other new addition is a highland calf born on the morning of a storm - we are running a competition to name her so any ideas please email.
The hotel is all spruced up and we have a new air hockey game in the games room and a trampoline.
Look forward to seeing you soon.

The Other morning it was so warm,we were sunbathing on the lawn looking over to scarborough Castle and the Sea.Well it was 1st April
Spring is just around the corner after a very hard winter and although the snow and frost looked lovely
John didn’t always appreciate thawing out pipes and struggling across snowy fields to feed the sheep. Jess surprised us in February with two puppies a boy and girl, who are full of mischief. Blu, Rex and Kim keep well away. Yogi has joined the other Highland cows so he is a big boy now but will never catch them up on size. We were surprised to see an Oyster Catcher on the top pond the other day he must have been taking a break on his way to Whitby. The sheep are near to lambing so hopefully by the middle of April we will have quite a few lambs
running around and with the daffodils and tulips about to
flower we can once again say that the countryside is
coming to life
